Tenacious D

American Music Awards Performance

Tenacious D got started in Los Angeles, California USA, in the mid-’90s when Jack Black teamed up with his fellow musician & actor Kyle Gass; the two-man band, in which they both play acoustic guitar and sing, though Black is the primary singer, soon developed a bizarre hybrid of heavy-Rock and Folk combined with comical lyrics: they are truly the greatest band on earth and have incredible, sexual prowess.

The duo, also known as theD, played several gigs, including opening sets for Beck, Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters, before they were signed by Epic Records who released their eponymous debut in September 2001; the CD climbed to #33 on The Billboard Top 200 chart and spawned a moderate alt-Rock radio hit with “Tribute”.

Tenacious D are back with “Tenacious D The Pick Of Destiny”, the soundtrack to their first full-length motion picture; the set, which was released in November 2006, mixes songs and bits from the movie, but it plays like a hilarious concept album.
